Madrid, mayo 2024. TEKIA has recently been awarded new contracts to perform the functions of Security Manager in Andalusia, Catalonia and Bilbao, which add to those it currently performs throughout Spain and which confirm its leadership in the provision of these services in Spain.
For the Andalusian contract, TEKIA will perform this function in the exploitation phase for a period of 60 months including extensions and for an amount of 741,671.36 euros in the 12 tunnels dependent on the Board located in the provinces of Córdoba, Seville, Jaén, Cádiz and Málaga and whose total length amounts to 3,338 meters. With the same execution period, the Generalitat of Catalonia has awarded TEKIA, for an amount of 795,854.37, the lots corresponding to the Head of Security and Control Center of the Transversal Axis, of tunnels and associated road sections. Bilbao City Council has also entrusted TEKIA with the execution of these functions for the Karmelo Bernaola urban tunnel of approximately 500 meters for a period of 36 months and whose previous tender in 2021 was also awarded to TEKIA.
In all these contracts, the tasks inherent to this figure must be carried out, such as the writing of previous safety reports, evaluation of accidents or important incidents, continuous advice to the tunnel manager and training and training of control center operators, supervision of the operating company, recommendations for closing the operation if necessary, inspection of the tunnels, as well as monitoring the implementation of the self-protection plan.
In addition to the previous ones, TEKIA currently carries out this task on the road network managed by SEITT (M-50, M12 and AP-7), on the AP-9 managed by Audasa, on the AP-66 managed by Aucalsa, in the tunnels of the State Highway Demarcations in Cantabria, Castilla y León and La Rioja of the MINISTERIO DE TRANSPORTES, in the tunnels managed by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, in the tunnels dependent on the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona and AMB, on the highways of Gipuzkoa managed by BIDEGI or in the tunnels of the Principado de Asturias. It also provides Inspection Body services for the Diputación Foral de Vizcaya.
TEKIA is a company with deep knowledge of safety in tunnels since its foundation 25 years ago and as part of the activities it carries out, since 2004 it has been responsible for safety in tunnels in project, under construction and especially in service to different administrations of roads, carrying out this work in some 350 tunnels throughout the entire Spanish geography.
