Bilbao, may 2021. From 1st june, TEKIA will be Sfety Officer of the tunnel for one year, extendable for two more years.
As of June 1 and for a year that can be extended for two more, TEKIA will perform the functions of Safety Manager for the Karmelo Bernaola urban tunnel, approximately 500 meters long. Following the guidelines of said standard, TEKIA will have to carry out tasks such as participating in the definition of security and emergency plans, ensuring coordination with the emergency services and collaborating in the organization of action plans, participating in the definition of the equipping the tunnel, making recommendations for closing and opening the tunnel in case of need, carrying out maintenance inspections, repairs and equipment related to safety, carrying out training of personnel and emergency services as well as the organization of periodic drills, participating in the evaluation of any significant accident or incident, etc.
As a company with in-depth knowledge of safety in tunnels and as part of the activities we carry out, since 2007 we have been providing these Safety Manager services to different responsible bodies, carrying out this work in more than 300 tunnels throughout the entire Spanish geography. . We currently carry out these tasks in the tunnels managed by Bidegi, the AP-9 tunnels managed by Audasa, AP-66 managed by Aucalsa and those of the State Highway Demarcation in Asturias and Cantabria for the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA), as well as Inspection Agency Services for the Provincial Council of Vizcaya.
